Coming Soon: Stock Training for Companion Gundogs
Stock training with your companion gundog. These sessions will work around my three shetland sheep Baarbara, Baarry and Baarnaby. They are to help owners feel confident that their dogs choose to ignore sheep and can listen to cues/commands in their presence. Remember all dogs should be kept on lead around other peoples livestock!
These sessions are not for dogs that have already got a significant history of livestock worrying or attacks.
Training Walks
I also offer training walks where appropriate. These are ideal for owners who would like support building certain behaviours or skills, but need a little extra help getting their dog to where they want them to be.
Training walks can focus on a range of skills, including:
- Recall
- Heel work
- Stop whistle
- Retrieving
- Focus and responsiveness
- Gundog-style skills
- General confidence and engagement
Training walks are collaborative and are booked in blocks.
The standard training walk package begins with a one-hour 1:1 session with both the owner and dog. I then take your dog for four follow-up training walks, working with your dog on the agreed skills.
After each walk, I will update you with relevant information. This may include a written summary and/or useful videos to support your training at home.
The block ends with a final 1:1 session with both the owner and dog, where I will show you the key skills needed to continue your dog’s progress.
The basic training walk package is £220.
Any further walks after the package has ended are charged at £30 per walk.
If you book further 1:1 sessions after completing a training walk package, these are available at the discounted rate of £45 per hour.
Puppy Training
I don’t currently run group puppy classes, but I do offer personalised 1:1 puppy training, perfect for helping your puppy get off to the best possible start.
Each session is tailored to your puppy, your home and your lifestyle. We can cover a wide range of early training topics, including:
- Play biting
- Toilet training
- Socialisation
- Confidence building
- Settling at home
- Preventing separation anxiety
- Basic manners and early life skills
All sessions take place in the comfort of your own home.
If you are expecting a puppy soon, I also offer pre-arrival visits to help you prepare your home, understand key developmental stages and make the most of the important early socialisation period.
For gundog puppies, I can also help you understand your puppy’s breed instincts and guide you in building healthy, positive behaviours from day one.

Companion Gundog Training
I work alongside my dear friend and colleague Kathryn from Startrite Dog Training to offer companion gundog classes.
Our gundog training course is perfect for owners of “unemployed” gundog breeds, or gundog mixes, who would like a fun, structured way to channel their dog’s natural instincts. Gundog-style training helps build valuable everyday skills such as recall, heel work, responsiveness and focus, while giving your dog a rewarding outlet for their drive.
Our foundation class is a six-week course which includes:
- Six one-hour training sessions
- Access to training videos and class materials
- Membership to a private Facebook group where you can share progress and ask questions
- A welcome pack with gundog essentials, including a whistle
- Guidance on how to build a strong recall cue
During the course, we cover:
- Placeboard training
- Stop whistle
- Steadiness foundations
- Forward focus and directional work
- And much more
The foundation course costs £125.
Once you have completed the foundation level, you can progress to our novice, progressive and advanced outdoor classes.

1:1 Dog Training
Are you struggling with focus, connection, lead pulling or recall? My 1:1 training sessions are designed around your dog’s individual needs, helping you work through specific challenges while building a stronger relationship together.
These sessions are also ideal for owners of companion gundog breeds who would like to explore breed-specific training in a fun and practical way. We can work on key skills, obedience and activities that tap into your dog’s natural instincts, helping them use their genetics in a positive and rewarding way.
Each session lasts one hour and is fully tailored to your goals. You will receive a face-to-face training session with me, along with written guidance and/or video demonstrations where relevant.
Sessions are pay as you go at £50 per hour.
